In-Basket Exercises
In-Basket exercises are paper-based exercises designed to
simulate the in-baskets of actual managers. Participants
are asked to approach the exercise as if they were actually
"on the job," and to write down the responses or actions
they take to address each situation.
Analyzing the responses assesses their problem-solving,
organizing and planning abilities, as well as decisiveness,
personal standards, independence / assertiveness, energy /
initiative, role identification, and interpersonal skills.
OSI routinely customizes In-Basket Exercises to reflect
organization-specific roles and situations. Off-the-shelf
versions are also available for the following roles:
- Chief Operating Officer
- General Manager
- Marketing Analyst
- Middle Manager
- Production/Manufacturing Supervisor
- Product Testing Manager
- Sales Manager
- Sales Representative
